In a distressing turn of events, a member of the party led by Russian President Vladimir Putin has been discovered lifeless in the courtyard of his residence, as reported by local media on Thursday. This incident adds to the growing tally of Russian elites meeting unclear fates in recent months.
Vladimir Egorov, a Tobolsk City Duma Deputy affiliated with the ruling United Russia party, purportedly passed away at the age of 46. The news, initially surfaced by Russian newspaper Kommersant, relied on information from the Investigative Committee for the Tyumen Region in Russia.
According to investigators, there were no apparent "external signs of criminal death" on Egorov's body. Kommersant was informed by the committee that details surrounding the circumstances of the deputy's demise remain unconfirmed as an autopsy is still underway.
On Thursday, Russian state media TASS also reported Egorov's demise, affirming that he was found deceased in Tobolsk. Additionally, an unofficial Telegram channel, Baza, known for its connections to Russian security services, mentioned that Egorov's body was discovered in the courtyard of his residence on Kedrovaya Street on Wednesday.
As investigations continue, both Kommersant and TASS highlight the ongoing efforts to establish the causes of Egorov's death. Simultaneously, the Tobolsk City Duma shared an obituary on its social media page attributing Egorov's demise to an accident.
The Duma expressed gratitude to Egorov, its former deputy chairman, for his unwavering support to participants of the Special Military Operation and the families of military personnel engaged in the conflict in Ukraine.
