Critics of Trump believe Antonin Scalia will be able to influence the Supreme Court in the 14th Amendment case
As they argue their case before the Supreme Court, liberal groups are looking to an unexpected source—the late Justice Antonin Scalia and a number of the court's current conservatives—in an attempt to prevent former President Donald Trump from being considered for the office due to his involvement in the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. The opposition to Trump is pointing to a concurring opinion from the late Justice Scalia (2014), a champion of the conservative legal movement who passed away in 2016, as proof that past presidents are covered by the 14th Amendment's "insurrectionist ban" in addition to regular government employees.
